Tours
Tours were held during the years of the Mt Kembla Heritage Centre - 2008 to 2017.
Many bus loads of interested visitors spent time in the Heritage Centre and toured around Mt Kembla and Kembla Heights with volunteer interpreters.
K & Y6 students from the Mt Kembla Public School visited annually to learn about their significant local history. Some of them were linked to this story.
For four years, Y9 geography students from Holy Spirit College, Bellambi came on study tours lasting all day. They visited four significant sites with a volunteer guide interpreting the relevant history. This took two days of intense effort with 8 volunteers interacting with the 110+ students and their teachers.
Students from the University of Wollongong also visited the Heritage Centre as part of their research training.
Their assignments were focused on the people involved in the Mt Kembla Mine disaster, victims, survivors and those linked to the Inquiry into the disaster.
